Metal detectors
I’ve tried many different types of metal detectors, from White to Fisher to Garrett to many I can’t even remember the manufacturer of. Right now I’m trying out the Nautilus detector, the DMC-IIB. I’ve found that setup of the detector is a complex process – I’ve had to take the manual with me to the woods in order to properly tune it. And the twin signals take a bit of getting used to. I’m impressed with it’s depth performance using the 15” coil, but, man, it’s heavy, and in the hills around Vicksburg I can’t last but a half hour or so. I’ve dug some deep shell fragments in places that are “hunted out,” but so far no complete shell. I want to try the smaller coil hunting coins and campsite relics, but the weather is so bad I’ll have to wait for awhile. More on it later.
